I'm sure this exercise was not a "choice", but if it is ever offered again with new "things" to learn, I would probably chose to participate. It was a learning experience and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The pace was relaxed but still had an implied deadline which kept me going so I wouldn't get behind and it involved just the right amount of exploration of each topic.
I know I will benefit from most of the explorations and so will the patrons. So, thanks to all of you for providing a motivation for me.

I've worked crosswords for years and added sudoku recently. I did try various levels of both of these games on Yahoo! Daily Games. I don't think I'd like sitting in front of a computer for that amount of time. I'll stick with the newspaper and pencil and writing board and big, comfortable chair and a beverage to suit the season. The Funbrain and Primary Games sites I will add to my increasing knowledge of games for kids--a very common question which I usually answer by showing them the Yahoo! page and Nickelodeon. I did try several of the games on the suggested sites and thought they were fun and easy. But I cannot see myself sitting down for hours of a multi-player, multi-layer game.

This exercise I thoroughly enjoyed. I love maps and will be "playing" with this often--maybe, very often. I visited every house I've ever lived in, places I've hiked, cities around the world and the Olduvia Gorge.

Will definitely recommend these sites to patrons if they request applications they can use to home or more variety than we offer.

I often use different search engines just for the change, mostly the sites listed on our home page. But I can't say I find too much difference among them. I prefer that the sponsored ads not be listed in the search results as the metasearch engines tend to do. Dogpile is cute!! Not a good reason to use it, but go figure! I do appreciate knowing about the UC Berkely search engine page and I have put it on my favorites---learned a few tricks and I think I can use this very well the next time a patron asks "What's the difference?".

There was alot about this exercise I couldn't figure out (due to my ignorance I'm sure). I managed to get three podcasts on my Google Reader almost by accident. I can't imagine ever voluntarily using this. But, yes I do know that most of our patrons love podcasts and I say more power to them. Yea!!!

I've been introducing patrons to OverDrive for awhile now, especially when we do not have the book or music they want on the shelf. This is the first time I've actually used it, since I do not have internet connection at home, an MP3Player or an IPod. I've always thought the audio books and the music selections are awesome...quite a range of interests.

Del.icio.us would be very useful for someone working on a research project or compiling information for a specific reason. It was surprisingly (for me) easy to set up and use. I don't have internet at home and I'm rather busy at work so the few sites I look at every day are easily remembered in my own little brain (with back up on my "favorites"). But I think I'll keep the buttons on my toolbar in case I run across an article worth keeping for a while.

I'm not sure what I think about general (open to everyone) wikis. I use Wikipedia as an alternative source--keeping in mind that it is mostly factual but can be opinionated, delusional and, in widely reported cases, downright mean. It often leads to good sources.
Libraries could use it as a way for a team to work together on a specific subject.

I can understand how someone who watches alot of TV or movies would like Hulu and Fancast. These sites might be useful to libraries as another source for this type of material for our patrons.
YouTube is amusing. But not even a cat lover can watch that many cat videos!

I've never used IM before. It seems awkward. I'm a life-long member of the "Worlds Worst Speller" club and never write anything without a dictionary right next to me. It would be difficult for me to communicate with patrons in this "so fast you can't look up a word " form.
